William O. Smith, MD, is board certified in internal medicine. His honors and professional associations include being a Diplomat with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Oklahoma Society of Internal Medicine, American Society of Internal Medicine, Member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Oklahoma State Medical Association, Association for Practitioners in Infection Control and the Rogers County Medical Association. He received the Robert K. Endres Award from the American Diabetes Association in 1984. Dr. Smith serves as the medical director for the Rogers County Adult Day Care and as consultant in Diabetes and Chronic Disease to the State Health Department and the Rogers County Health Department. He is the chair for the Diabetes Program Advisory Board for the Claremore Indian Hospital.
Dr. Smith attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and earned a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 1970. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in Oklahoma City in 1974. He completed his internship in 1975 at the City of Memphis University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed his residency from the same institution in 1977.
During his personal time, Dr. Smith enjoys being active in his church, playing bridge and fishing. He and his wife are OSU basketball season ticket holders and they enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
Dr. Smith welcomes new patients and most insurance plans are accepted. His office is located at 1501 N. Florence, Suite 200 in Claremore. Appointments can be set by calling 918-341-1886 between 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
